Asia Cup Betting Preview: Matches 7, 8 & 9

The 2014 Asian Cup has started in fantastic fashion, with close matches as well as some surprise results.

Sri Lanka and Pakistan are well placed to reach the final, especially after the latter beat India by one wicket in yesterdays match.

The start to the competition means both of our pre-tournament bets are well placed to land.

Afghanistan vs. Sri Lanka

Afghanistan have performed admirably in their opening two games, only losing to Pakistan following a late collapse, before beating the hosts Bangladesh.

Sri have seen off their two biggest rivals and have the two bottom sides left to play meaning they look certain to at least make the final.

Kumar Sangakkara inspired them to their latest win over India, smashing 102 off just 84 balls as they got over the line with just two wickets to spare.

Unsurprisingly Sri Lanka are huge favourites and there is little value in backing them to beat the Asian minnows.

Mahela Jayawardene is due a hit, so get on him at 9/2 to top score for Sri Lanka.

Top tip: Mahela Jayawardene top Sri Lanka run scorer – 9/2 with Bet 365

Other bets: Century in the match yes; Sri Lanka -60 / 4 wickets

Bangladesh vs. Pakistan

The hosts Bangladesh missed an excellent opportunity to beat India, before they were humbled by Afghanistan, giving them little / no chance of reaching the final.

Bangladesh have been without the key duo of Tamim Iqbal and Shakib Al-Hasan, however weren’t expected to be bottom of the group.

Pakistan have recovered well from their opening day loss to Sri Lanka and the one wicket win over India means they top the group.

Saeed Ajmal and co are big favourites to beat the hosts on Monday and it’s hard to look past them.

Top tip: Pakistan to win – 3/10 with Bet 365

Afghanistan vs. India

India’s chances of making the Asian Cup final are likely to be all over before they face Afghanistan on Wednesday.

After losing to their main two rivals in Sri Lanka and Pakistan, progression into the final is seemingly impossible.

Virat Kohli has taken the captaincy in the absence of MS Dhoni and despite his team failing, he has lead by example.

As of Sunday and the sixth match, Kohli is the tournament’s leading scorer having hit 189 runs, including a hundred in their only win so far in the tournament.

A wounded India should easily beat Afghanistan on Wednesday (odds not available as of 02/03/14)
