There are three World T20 Super 10 fixtures remaining, with two of them effectively quarter-finals, with the winner progressing and the loser going home.
New Zealand vs. Sri Lanka
Both New Zealand and Sri Lanka have won two of their three Group 1 matches, meaning Monday’s late match is a winner takes all.
After South Africa lost their first match to Sri Lanka, not many gave the Proteas a chance of qualifying, however three wins from three means they are the one side through.
New Zealand have had an indifferent tournament, with them perhaps lucky to beat England via the Duckworth Lewis method, before blowing a brilliant chance against South Africa.
For the best part Sri Lanka have been excellent, with them bowling the Netherlands out for a world record low of just 39.
Arguably they should be through already, however an incredible unbeaten hundred from Alex Hales saw England snatch victory in an amazing chase down last Thursday.
New Zealand are the underdogs and at 13/10 there is value in backing them, especially given Brendan McCullum’s form.
Best bet: New Zealand to win 13/10 with Bet 365
Kumar Sangakkara by his standards has had a quiet tournament, however the wicket-keeper is a big game player.
If Sri Lanka lose a couple of early wickets, then he will be in early and sometimes you need your best players to be facing a lot of balls.
Back Sangakkara to be Sri Lanka’s top run scorer against the Kiwi’s later on today.
As for New Zealand, someone who is yet to get going for them is Martin Guptill and at 4’s he has value at the top of their innings.
Top run scorer bets: Kumar Sangakkara for Sri Lanka; Martin Guptill for New Zealand
Pakistan vs. West Indies
In Group Two, there is a similar scenario, with the winner taking all between Pakistan and the West Indies.
The bookies can’t call the game with the majority having the pair at 10/11 to win and ultimately qualify for the semi-finals.
The World T20 champions West Indies have got better as the tournament has gone on and their win over Australia saw incredible jubilant scenes after Darren Sammy hit consecutive sixes to win the game.
It’s the same for Pakistan, who started with a defeat to India, however have got better with back to back victories.
Umar Akmal’s knock against Australia was superb and he will have to do better than the duck he scored against Bangladesh yesterday to helped Pakistan eliminate the holders.
Both sides have very good spin options and on a pitch that will turn, whoever plays better between Saeed Ajmal and Sunil Narine could be the difference.
After backing Pakistan to win the tournament, I’ll have to back them to win here.
Best bet: Pakistan to win 10/11 with Bet 365
Top wicket taker bets: Saeed Ajmal for Pakistan; Sunil Narine for West Indies
